I have always been an avid reader and in adulthood I have also found great joy in writing. The main things I write about are travel, living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and technical topics. I am also working on a young adult novel, which draws on my twenty years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for youth in foster care. I love traveling and document traveling with ALS, both good and bad, in my blog. I also enjoy crossword puzzles, and playing flute and piano.
Since my ALS diagnosis in 2019, I have steadily learned more about the disease and have gotten involved in fundraising and advocacy for the people and our families who are living with ALS. I am on the board of the ALS Network, which provides care services, advocacy, and research for people in California, Hawaii, and beyond.
When I’m not out exploring the world, my home is in San Jose, CA, where I share my life with my travel-companion wife and two pet tortoises.
